Crimson Desert by Melissa Jane

Well, with Little Doll fresh in my mind when I started this book, I was more than little excited to see what happens to Laila and Aiden

Finally free from her tormentors, we accompany Laila and her saviour Hector as they fight their way to freedom.

The story and it relentless twist and turns never stop, Nothing what it seems and everything has the potential to take your breath away. I simply could not take my eyes off the screen for fear of skimming over a vital detail and losing the gist of the plot.

You will adore this book but you will have your perception of what is going on shattered on more than one occasion, nothing in this book or this series really can be taken at face value.

Everyone has secrets, the truth is that some are buried deeper than others.

I was left speechless when Aiden’s past was exposed and his secrets unfolded, this alpha man had skeletons that were difficult to understand but they laid the man bare and that gave me a chance to feel for him completely. I am not ashamed to say that I shed a tear or two on his behalf.

As much as Aiden is light, Juan is his complete antitheses, he is bad to the bone but I learnt quickly that he is a result of his upbringing, it was certainly a case of nurture over nature. He can honestly hold his head high because we can all see that he is a product of the insanity that raised him, it is because of that, that we can accept that he is completely batshit crazy!!!

You will harbour desires to fix him, I know I did but I am not sure that you will be able to summon either the strength or courage to take him on, he crept me out slightly but that didn’t stop me from wanting him to find his way out of the shit that was his life.

The twist in the tale will leave you breathless, but the story will grip you and you will be left shaking your head and asking, what the hell you have just finished.
