Betrayal by Aubrey St. Clair

This is Lila’s story and it is a decent read, although I must say straight off the bat that I think it could have done with a bit more oomph!

The whole story just didn’t flow seamlessly for me, it had a few troughs that I thought could have been padded out a little more.

That being said I did like the characters, mostly.

Lila told the story from her POV and that was probably the right decision but it also gave her the opportunity to whine a little too much, there were times when I understood what she was struggling with but at other times I just wanted her to stand up for herself.

I was at a loss to understand the whole situation initially, so god knows how Lila felt, when she discovered that her ass of a boyfriend not only used her as a bet in a game of poker but then went on to lose!

I mean OMG.

How do you get over something like that and stay out of jail? I would have killed or castrated him on the spot!

She really has had her fingers burnt too many times to even contemplate another relationship, sick to death of being on the receiving end of all the lies and bull that those that purport to love her have to offer. This is the final straw.

Chase on the other hand, is determined that he can prove to her that not all guys are the same and that despite being the guy that won her in the bet, he can be the man that she deserves. He sets his stall out to get the woman he wants and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal.

What ensues is the most unlikely of romances and the most engaging of stories.

There were a couple of bits that had me raising an eyebrow and a couple of bits that really didn’t sit well with me at all but over all it was a decent read.
