Fighter's Claim

Put an MC story in front of me and normally I am a lost cause, totally smitten and almost catatonic unit it is finished but every now and then I find one that whilst it pricks my interest also irks my soul and this was one of those for me.

Don’t get me wrong it was a good read from an author I had never heard of before and I will certainly read the remaining books in the series with absolute devotion but as far as what I would expect from an MC, I think this was erring a little too much on the light side. The intensity of the club just didn’t completely win me over, I got the connection between Tish and her best friend Jiji’s brother; Fighter (not his real name as I am sure you don’t need me to tell you), I just wanted to get a bit more of a connection with the drama that being part of an MC brings to the table.

Jiji and Tish took off when Jiji had a problem with her stepfather that meant being at home was no longer an option, she wasn’t willing to stay put a minute longer so took off with her bestie Tish in tow and headed straight for the protection that her brother Fighter could give her. It didn’t hurt any that Tish had been secretly in love with him for longer than she was willing to admit!

Being the Devil’s Wind MC enforcer is a role that Fighter takes seriously, in fact the club is about all he actually does take seriously ...well that is until his sister JiJi arrives at the club gate looking not only looking like she has gone ten rounds in a pro fight but also looking for the one man that she trusts to protect her…him.

I would have hated to be on the receiving end of the beat down that was coming in retaliation for the bruises she wore and there was no doubt in my mind that he wouldn’t stop until he had extracted retribution but I couldn’t help but want more…greedy I know!

With regards to Fighter and Tish, from the minute they reconnected, he wasn’t going to let any of his brothers stake a claim, so he laid down his marker fairly swiftly but could he live up to it? Could he make sure that the woman that he claimed as his remained his, could he keep the danger that plagued them all at bay and moreover would Tish want to stay once she had a taste of what life in the club with a man of her own would be like.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read, for me I would have liked a little bit more angst but I won’t hold that against it. Looking forward to the next in the series.
