Healing the Broken

If you are looking for a book that will give you the excuse to cry ugly then this is it! For a debut novel this was nothing short of exceptional and left absolutely no stone unturned in its pursuit of perfection and this author found it…I was blown away!

Summing the book up I would have to say it was emotionally raw, it took a look at events that define, at events that leave a lasting mark and taint the future of those involved.

Ryann, Oh, boy, she had been through so much, experience so much pain and sorrow that it was excruciating to read. Surviving the hell that was her father not only murdering her mother but attempting to kill her too, beggars my comprehension but she was still standing and stronger that I thought possible.  Her life wasn’t easy, living with those memories was a daily battle.

There was so much going on in this story that it demanded my undivided attention, it was forthright and solid, making sure that as the reader I was feeling every emotion that the author was pouring into Ryann.  

Cash is a detective and he knew the minute he saw her working at his cousin’s bar, not only who she was but that he wanted to get to know her. This beautiful man, with a loving soul wanted to be the guys she needed, he just had to get her to see that what they could have together could be worth the risk, Ryann was less than willing to take the risk it seemed.

Cash is the type of character that will stay with you long after you have read the last word of the book. This was love in its purest form, it was how with the right person and unconditional love you can overcome all the s**t that life has thrown at you in the past. As you can imagine, not everything is smooth sailing and the author cleverly inserts just enough angst and attitude into the storyline, at just the right time to turn what was an enjoyable afternoon reading into a hostage situation, I was hooked, I unable put the book down and I didn’t want too. I cried, I fought to keep the tears at bay but there was no chance, this is a book that sets its own agenda and I was happy to be along for the ride.

I was caught off guard by not just the light that shone from this story but by the darkness that was all too evident.
