Inflame

by Laramie Briscoe

Short and Oh So Sweet, this was another in what is quickly becoming a long list of fabulous reads from Laramie Briscoe.
Emma and Ash have been in each other’s lives since they were in high school, they weren’t together but that didn’t mean that given the opportunity they might not have been, Emma certainly wanted more. So, when the chance arises for that something more to come to fruition, Emma is ready to dive straight in!
Single dad Ash has priorities, commitments that he has to take care of and an ex that is less of a mother and parent than she should have been but he is ready to start something, so when Emma shows an interest in them being more than friends, I was delighted that they were at least willing to work towards a relationship.
I liked Emma, she was mid-twenties still trying to find out what she really wanted to do with her life but she was sharp enough to make sure that she was not the type of girl to let what she wanted pass her by, after all, getting involved with a single guy with a kid may not have been everyone’s happy ever after but she was ready to see if it was hers.
I liked that Ash wasn’t a flake, that he took what he had in his life and ran with it. He was an amazing father to Sydney and with Emma, he was a fantastic partner, yes, they had things to navigate as they tried to establish what they had but the author ensured that as the reader I got just enough to satisfy my curiosity.
Would I have liked a little more?  Yes, of course, I think the story could have been a little longer, I think, had it been then it might have given the author the opportunity to give the pair of them a little more depth but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy what we got I did.
I look forward to the next in the series.
