On the Rocks by Gillian Jones

I read book one and when I have the opportunity to read this one I jumped at it.

Superbly written, this is a book that you will find difficult to put down. It may be part of a series but it can definitely be read as a standalone book, so don’t panic if you haven’t read the first book, but I would suggest that you give it a try as soon as you can, because you will want to read a bit more about the formidable Ryker.

I was blown away by the sensitive touch with which the author handled an emotionally sensitive subject. She wove a beautiful love story between Levi and Braun and in doing so she presented a story that was fabulously evocative, sensitive and sexy.

The connection between Levi and Braun was impossible not to dial in to, it leapt off the page but they were not the only stars of the books for me, because you will adore Emme!!!

Braun is living life hand to mouth, day to day and each and every day is a struggle but she has an exclusive inner circle of three that hold her together. Relying on her grandmother and best friend to keep her strong at times, but her reason for breathing is her beautiful daughter Emme.

Everything Braun does is to ensure that she can finish college and make a better life for her and her daughter, she has no interest in a relationship but isn’t that always the case, just when you least expect or what it, someone who is destined to leave their mark on your heart will appear. For Braun that is Levi and she is a very lucky woman, whether she realises it or not because he is a fantastic man.

Held hostage by her past, she is reticent but Levi falls head over heels for her and is determined to make her his. He is completely besotted by her but when he meets Emme, his heart is completely stolen.

Can she overcome her past and her fears or will she let the best thing that has ever had slip through her fingers?

What will Levi do when she finally opens the floodgates to her past and lets him in on the secrets that she hides so deep? Can he shoulder her pain and make her see that his demons mean that what they have works both ways, he needs her just as much?
