Sins of Sevin by Penelope Ward

Jeez, get the tissues out!

This is an emotional rollercoaster and it is one that is impossible to put down.

After his father’s death, Sevin quickly discovers that his stepmother is determined to have him married him off to someone of her choosing.

The religious undertones that actually underpin the whole story are central to the emotional attitude but it was the human boundaries that broke me down.

Elle, his elected bride was a lovely girl, she would make someone the perfect wife, she just wasn’t the girl for Sevin, he was enamoured with her sister Evangeline.

But the plot took a twist that made the whole situation more complicated than I could have ever imagined when despite the fact that Sevin was hopelessly committed to how he felt towards Evangeline she fell for her sister’s boyfriend.

The characters were absorbing, the situations were engrossing, the storyline fresh and engaging.

When limits were pushed, when choices had to be made could they survive and could they forgive?

Sevin was the most delicious of characters, he gave so much for Elle but his heart belonged to Evangeline and the pain that her actions caused him were cutting but he nursed the wounds and refused to be cut down by them.

This is a book that was written with a flare that is difficult to describe, it was without question one of the best books I have read this year.
