Under My Skin by J. Kenner

I have been hanging out for this book for what has felt like forever (although I know it wasn’t!) and finally I have it – woohoo!!

As I have come to expect from J Kenner, this a corker!

Following hot on the heels of On My Knees, I was so happy for Jackson, he finally had all his ducks in a row and was almost ready to bring Ronnie, his daughter home, but he has other issues that he as to deal with first.

Being told that he is a suspect in the still unsolved death of Mr Reed is not the news he would have wanted to hear and although we are readers already know that he is not killer it doesn’t particularly distract from the angst that his situation adds to the story.

But I could help but puzzle over the fact that this murder continued to hover around the whole story,

And if that wasn’t more than enough for him to handle he also had the fact that Sylvia, the woman that he loved more than life was also having to deal with someone who was doing their utmost to scupper her plans. The resort is so important to her that she is really struggling to keep things on an even keel.

Can they survive the obstacles that have been and continue to be put in their path and if they can, will they do it together?

I love Jackson and Sylvia, they are a passionate couple but they are so bad at the simple things in life, they just don’t seem to be able to talk to each other… I mean honestly get a grip guys!

While they continued to make poor decisions that were frustrating for each other and infuriating for me as a reader, I was blown away by the fact that the one thing they didn’t get wrong was the way they emotionally were committed to each other, Jackson was really good for Sylvia and she knew it.

So summing up what this did for me, well I can only say that while I enjoyed the book, I also found that I also found myself shaking my head and exhaling a huge sigh – they really did frustrate me at some points.

But the culmination of their journey was handled with absolute perfection and the epilogue well that was just the icing on the cake.
