Interview with a Porn Star by Jason Luke

Interview with a Porn Star by Jason Luke

Rick Cassidy, owns his own skin and is damn proud of himself and so he should be. This self-made man answers to no-one and because of that he exudes a confidence that few can carry comfortably.

Rick as worked his way to the top of his field and now commands respect from those in the industry. Both he and they know he is the best in the business. But at just 30 years of age he is now looking for something more and having moved into production and distribution of his films he is well on the way to having his industry eating from the palm of his hand.

Shame he doesn’t get the same reaction from Connie. This 30 something reporter has taken on the job of interviewing Rick for her magazine, but when you discover that she has more than a healthy distain for Rick and his chosen career, it makes you wonder why? I knew then that there was more to this woman that met the eye but Jason Luke kept me hanging till the end for an explanation –cruel man!

Setting the interview off on the wrong foot, wasn’t a good move on Connie’s part and when she is swiftly shown the door – she is left with no choice but to quickly re-evaluate her approach. Rick is not interested in the seedy underbelly of the porn market – the monotonous drudgery of churning out tacky films, time after time does nothing for him – he specialises in the quality films, highly produced and expertly filmed. And after taking time to watch one of his films, Connie may just have begun to understand where he is coming from.

This book follows much the same pattern as the author’s previous books and that happens to be something that I enjoy – so with the scene set. Connie spends the next few days at Rick’s side taking in all the action – so to speak.

The banter between them was honest and funny at times and Rick truly was an open book – he had no shame and needed none because he had every right to be proud of his achievements. He looked for neither praise nor recognition but accepted that through his body of work he had gained both.

The sex scenes were described with absolute aplomb– if anything this book was more detailed than Interview with a Master and in that respect I feel that this book was ever so slightly more accomplished.

Rick had more to give and I think that shone through.

Connie desperately tried to open up when she was around Rick, not finding it easy I got the feeling that Rick at least appreciated that she was making the effort, and over the course of the interview we got to see that the beginnings of a friendship had most definitely begun to take shape.

The reason behind her venom towards the porn industry is revealed late into the book, when at last she opens up to Rick and asks him for his help.

Ever the gent, Rick deals with the situation the way he deals with everything else – head on and taking it all in his stride.

The end left a lot of unanswered question but I hope that there is a follow up novel in the works – and we will get to see what happens next for the pair of them.

I love the pace and cohesion that the book has, the style is perfect and being written from a male perspective- it gave me a female reader the opportunity to hear what I am considering to be an indicative male opinion – because much of what I read, made what I considered would be perfect sense in the male mind.

Author or Psychologist – I have yet to decide – but one thing I have made my mind up on is Jason Luke is certainly a Master at his craft!
