Bound to You by Shawntelle Madison

I read the book after being intrigued by the blurb and while the story was well written, in my opinion it just never seemed to really get going…it almost plodded along and I was just waiting for something to happen, something that would almost make the whole story spring to life but unfortunately whatever that was didn’t seem to actually materialise.

The author delivered two characters that were interesting but that didn’t actually stand out enough, their story was one that I was hoping I would really enjoy and for a part of it I really did but there was a comfortable familiarity with much of what I was reading and that in itself made me feel a little uneasy, the twists that the author built into the story didn’t rock the boat enough, the storyline just felt a little too easy.

Sophie Ashton works for Xavier Quinn and is adamant that she is going to be the consummate professional but there is just something about the two of them that cannot be denied. See what I mean?

I wanted more from Sophie, she had been through enough, she had a plethora of pain and a back catalogue of experience that meant she was more than a survivor—her time in the foster care system had laid a foundation on her character that she continued to allow to define her whether she liked it or not. I wanted her to be better than that, not because of anything other than the fact that she had suffered enough.

I liked the fact that the story was told from both points of view, I just didn’t get that there was enough in it. I suppose if I am 100% honest I just felt a little let down by the blurb, I started the book thinking I knew what I was getting and the story just didn’t seem to live up to the billing!
