The First Time is the Hardest

Get the tissues ready!!!

I had one grasped by my side for much of the is short but emotional read, honestly I was a few pages in and I could feel the tears fighting their way forward.

Mila Austin’s future, her carefully worked future was ripped from her grasp when the boy that she had loved for almost as long as she could remember was killed in a road traffic accident. Grief didn’t do how she felt justice, she was bereft, he world and everything she had planned, gone in an instant.

Returning home from college Mila is faced with a future that she can barely comprehend, one that Lucas is no longer a part of and when his older brother Ryan turns up, her emotions are sent into a tailspin yet again because she despite the circumstances and the bond they have through grief, she has feelings for Ryan that she is ill equipped to either handle or control. But she is not alone because these mixed emotions are something that they also share.

This was a powerful, albeit short read but I think that it sets the tone beautifully for the rest of the series, which I cannot wait to get my hands on.

Mila and her brothers were sensational, they loved their sister with every ounce of adoration that had in them and they would stop at nothing to keep her not just physically but emotionally safe but will her heart or head win this battle?
