Worth the Wait

A highly apt title to a book that is certainly worth the wait.

Make no mistake there is no chance that you will be able to get away from this book with your emotions in one piece, this will tear your heart out and then slowly feed it back to you piece by piece in the hope that by the end you will understand not only the feelings that Nick and Mia have for each other but what they have been through to get to where they are now.

As far as second chance romances go, this is pitching high up the field and I don’t say that lightly. The genre has had more than enough knock out stories that are centred on this theme but this is aiming right to the top of the pile and rightly so, it is emotionally magnificent but achieves this with a tone of not only sensitivity but compassion and passion, this is truly beautiful and I loved every single word.

Nick is one of life’s good guys, the guy that took on and raised is infant sister when tragedy struck the family and the guy that loved Mia with everything he had right up until what they had wasn’t enough anymore, when what they had could protect not only them but their hearts from the pain that events were able to inflict upon them.

Their lives and them were torn apart but what they had wasn’t a love that you ever truly get over, it isn’t something that you can quickly recover from and in their case I don’t believe that they were ever going to because this pair had hearts that only ever wanted to belong to each other.

But so much time had passed, a decade in purgatory is what they put themselves through, neither of them willing to make the first move but when they eventually find themselves connecting again, it was with a sense of trepidation that I read on because they had been through so much that I wanted them to have their happy ending I just didn’t know if it was possible.

Keep tissues to hand with this one, I found that I was wiping tears away without even realising that I was crying in the first place, they made my heart hurt or at least the thought of them not being able to work things out did.

A solid, second bite at the cherry for a couple that deserved a happiness that only this author was able to give them. Loved it.
