What She Knew by Nadine Galinsky Feldman

The detail in this book blew my mind, it was so much to take in and with the whole book being set within a field that I have no idea how it works, I was thankful for the author’s time, consideration and patience and boy did it pay off because I felt not just enthused but educated

Liz Nabor is a woman who has more than made her way in the harsh world of Finance but when the financial crash hits too close to home and it looks like she is going to be hung out to dry, it suddenly becomes clear that but those around her are more than willing to leave the finger of suspicion pointing her direction.

Liz is up to her eyes in all sorts of insecurities but her initial concern is the fact that her Aunt, the woman that she loved and admired more than anyone else is dying, and despite the fact that they have drifted apart in recent times, she knows that she has to face a journey to Washington to see the old woman before her time runs out.

I like Aunt Eddie, she was everything that Liz was and more, I could see where Liz got her drive and determination from, she was a chip off the old block.

But could Aunt Eddie be Liz’s saving grace even after she has passed?

Accusations are abound and insinuations mean that Liz is being beaten before she has even had a chance to defend herself, the Feds are doing everything they can to prove that she had a hand in the disappearance of her clients money and that she knew what the likes of Bernie Madoff was doing despite the fact that she had never had any dealings with the man.

The burden of proof seemed to weigh heavy and Liz is being moulded into the perfect scapegoat, but by whom? And why?

I was gripped by the comings and goings, the deceit was everywhere but I hold my hands up in submission because I was completely blown away by the whole tale, a peek behind the scenes of a period of modern history that impacted a generation but that brought it back to the personal.

With a little bit of romance spotted here and there this was a story that had a foot in what appears to have been both fact and fiction and the author pulled off an amazing result, because I didn’t want to put this down.
