Blaming the Wind by Alessandra Harris

This was a very pleasant change from the norm for me.

The story followed the lives of Tara and Sophia, two women who were at eclectic points in their lives.

Both Sophia and Tara had dilemmas to face, situations that required not only attention but reflection.

Sophia was struggling to reconcile the fact that despite her depleted employment opportunities she was going to be a mom, and while she should have been jumping for joy, she had demons to deal with and those meant that her enthusiasm was tempered somewhat.

Tara on the other hand was at a crossroads in her marriage. The emotional connection with her husband felt like it was waning but was that enough to drive her into the arms of someone else?

I understood the fact that both women have decisions to make but reaching those choices was going to take everything they had.

The story was so strong, so deep that I felt winded at times, as I caught myself holding my breath in anticipation. The characters didn’t shy away from expressing their emotions, of laying their feeling out and refusing to hide the bits that most of us would shy away from.

The story gave me, the reader the opportunity to pause and reflect, to almost put myself in their shoes and walk alongside them as they stepped their way across every page.

The author has to be commended for the fact that this was quite simply one of the most beautifully written books I have read in months.
